She shared with us what to expect from the education session she will be presenting and the panel she will be moderating at The Hospitality Show on June 28th at 2:30 pm on the topic of “ESG for the Hotel Industry: Demystifying Climate, D&I, and SEC Reporting Requirements.”

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is becoming increasingly important for businesses to consider, and the hotel industry is no exception. This workshop will provide an overview of the latest trends and best practices in ESG, with a focus on three key areas: Climate Scope 2, Diversity & Inclusion, and the recent SEC changes that impact hotel procurement and partner company expectations on ESG support for their reporting requirements.

Climate Scope 2 refers to indirect emissions that result from the generation of purchased energy, such as electricity and steam. It is a critical area for the hotel industry to address as part of its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating the impact of climate change. In this workshop, we will explore strategies and tactics for reducing Climate Scope 2 emissions, including the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency measures, and carbon offsets.

Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is another critical area for the hotel industry to address. It is essential to create a workplace that is inclusive, diverse, and equitable, where all employees feel valued and respected. In this workshop, we will explore strategies for promoting D&I in the workplace, including hiring and recruitment practices, training and development programs, and creating a culture of inclusion.

The recent changes to SEC reporting requirements have made it more critical for hoteliers to understand the expectations of their partner companies when it comes to ESG reporting. In this workshop, we will discuss the latest changes and explore how hotels can better support their partners’ reporting requirements.
